"When we create or appreciate art, we set free the spirit trapped within. That is why art arouses such joy. Art is the emotion, the pleasure of expressing life as it is. Those who see art are moved by its passion and strength, its intensity and beauty. That is why it is impossible to separate life from art. Political and economic developments may seem to dominate the news, but culture and education are the forces that actually shape an age, since they transform the human heart." Daisaku Ikeda

"HOLD TO THE ROD"

Brother Christensen is a professor of art at Brigham Young University and enjoys a national reputation as a fantasy artist. His work has appeared in Time/Life Books’ series The Enchanted World, as well as on many book covers and in magazines. He has served as president of the National Academy of Fantastic Art. His paintings are exhibited in galleries throughout the United States."HOLD TO THE ROD"  I LOVE THE HUMOR AND WHIMSY IN THIS!!
HERE IS CHRITENSEN'S "RESISTANCE TRAINING"  I LOVE IT! NEED I SAY MORE?

ANOTHER OF MY FAVORITE ARTISTS.  THIS ONE I KNOW PERSONALLY--A NEIGHBOR OF MY SISTER AMY.  HE IS UNIQUE AND CATCHES EMOTION IN A FRESH AND VERY MODERN WAY.  HE IS VERY YOUNG TO HAVE SO MUCH PASSION, I THINK:  J. KIRK RICHARDSTHIS ONE IS ENTITLED "SWEETWATER RESCUE." IT DEPICTS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHURCH HISTORY STORIES AND I LOVE THE EMOTION CAPTURED IN THE WORK ITSELF

HERE IS A SAMPLING OF MORE GREATS.  I LOVE THE DUTCH ARTISTS.  CARL BLOCH  IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE.  HE DEVOTED MOST OF HIS WORK TO THE LIFE OF THE SAVIOR. HE WAS BORN ON MAY 23 (AN INSTANT CONNECTION!) STUDIED AND LEARNED FROM REMBRANDT.  BLOCH'S PARENTS WANTED HIM TO ENTER A "RESPECTABLE PROFESSION"-- AN OFFICER IN THE NAVY. BUT IT WAS NOT TO BE.  THANK GOODNESS!

MY FAVORITE OF ALL.  I HAVE COPIES OF THIS IN ALL MY SCRIPTURES AND HAND IT OUT EVERY YEAR TO MY STUDENTS.  LOVE IT!  LOVE IT.
"IF THERE IS AN ELYSIUM, WHERE THE GIANT, RICH, WARM AND NOBLE ARTIST SOULS MEET, THERE CARL BLOCH WILL SIT AMONG THE NOBLEST OF THEM ALL!"
