AMSTERDAM: Truly a Biker's City

We started the weekend on bikes...
did all our touring on bikes

We spent most of our time there on bikes (not complaining)

We rode out of the city into the country and stopped at a cafe for a fantastic, fresh, locally grown lunch

yep, windmills

as careful as we were, we still had one bike stolen which was locked outside our hotel and gone in the morning :(

couldn't miss a stop (or two) here!

the only way to go! (especially if your bike gets stolen)

jumped off just in time...

this incident had amy and me laughing for a couple of hours that day

Nature finds a way...

amy had an obsession with the doors...saw some pretty cool ones

this made us think of and miss Holden--who if he lived here would, first of all, have one of these. and second of all, leave it looking just like this once he got out (same treats, same size--we were so curious about the momma and little child who had gone inside and left this parked out for the night)

hot chocolate night cap

in front of our hotel--notice a missing bike?

through the window of the best creperie we've ever experienced

if not on bikes, we were on a boat in the many canals.  i am waiting for brian to get ours ready

captain of our ship

amy also loved driving the boat (when the "captain" would allow it)

threading the needle

whew! it got pretty stressful at times (he's very pleased with himself)

like this time...

what?! crossing one of the busiest streets in one of the busiest cities, we happen to run into our team leaders from Zambia! Needless to say, we were all surprised!

We absolutely loved our time in Amsterdam and would go back in an instant.  It was clean, the people were beautiful--we stayed clear of the red district and would never know such a thing existed but for the travel guides haha!

I think Mindy needs to get one of these for Boston
